Deprecated Darkstar fourms

Hello, I didn't know exactly where to put this and what not. I am returning as a long time player, however. I completely forget what to get, to get all set up, and do. Do I need POL, Do I need to get the game files, and how do I go about configuring them so I can play on some of these lovely servers...
