I know this is a common question and I've searched the board looking for answer but I just can't figure it out. When I set the server to my external IP It says cannot be found. F.y.i I'm using my phone for internet access so my laptop is not on my LAN. When I switch my zone IP back to my lan IP and reconnect my laptop to my WLan, then it works. I've used windower and the ffxi-boot.exe and both work, also I've connect to other private servers.
When changing between internal and external IP's, is the only thing I need to change the Zone IP query in Navicat?
I've used the IP calculator found through the wiki and I've used the FFXI+ZoneIP tool I found on this forum so I know my IP address is in the correct format.
Thanks
Edit: Also I did all the port forwarding it said I should do on the Wiki.
edit:2 Nevermind, I figured it out. Now I just need to figure out hairpining.

Re: can't find server when set to external IP
set the server in your client to the internal IP, then use the --hairpin option, and all should work well.
