I did re install the updated pol viewer after running into the MCVP120dll issue,
Perhaps you got the wrong region's POL installer, and then it "updated" your ffxi with the JP version files at some point after that.

Ok, it took a complete reinstall, but I got it straightened out. Thanks all for the replies!
