Forever alone. The curse of the 3101.
Re: Forever alone. The curse of the 3101.
It is. A couple can connect but the majority can not... Just hangs at acquiring data then 3101.
Re: Forever alone. The curse of the 3101.
I can get in fine locally but when someone logins it stalls here for them on packet a1.
Re: Forever alone. The curse of the 3101.
The issue has been resolved, it seems that lowering MTU size for his dsl did the trick, we lowered it from 1492 to 1200. I recommend putting it back to 1492 and see if it was indeed the problem and then tweak it to the highest setting possible where it will work.
When i logged in, i could see it hang a little while on acquiring player data but finally got through with the new mtu change. On my server i never experienced anything like this, acquiring player data on my end is pretty fast and i'm on cable so maybe pppoe has something to do with this, can't be sure.

Thanks for the follow-up, that's an odd problem to have!

Re: Forever alone. The curse of the 3101.
Interesting note. Users on DSL never have had 3101 login issues. Players on cable connections always get 3101 errors. Simply lowering the MTU to 1200 has solved the issue. Why? I do not know. My understanding is 1492 is pretty standard MTU for both cable and DSL... Ethernet max MTU is 1500 so 1492 is acceptable range... Odd very odd but I am glad it is finally over. Thank you again Viv! <3

Glad we were able to pinpoint that problem, score one for the troubleshooting book!Gratis wrote:Interesting note. Users on DSL never have had 3101 login issues.
