Deprecated Darkstar fourms

I know this isn't a good time to try and setup a client with the SoA release, however this is my first attempt at setting up a DarkStar client. After I install the game and POL, I try to use the "Check Files" method of updating my game. The FFXI option isn't available. I only have POL and TM. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm actually doing the same thing but it's working here.

After doing the "existing member" part then logging in I get the usual POL menu.

Did you apply the manual update?

the "pXI patch" either wasn't installed or wasn't installed properly - that's the step that lets you see FFXI in check files

There's a link to the PIX files download in the step 3, if that is of any help.

For me, check files didnt appear until I did an update via the play button (using an active content ID). Once that had been done, FFXI then appears on check files for future use.

Thanks for the advice I'll check it when I have a chance. Does the manual method work as well? I know its not the supported method, but I don't want to be shut out for weeks because of SoA updates.

Edit: I tried it again and got it to work. I'm guessing I didn't update the p-xi folder before patching POL.

Another question -- what version number should that FFXI read to be able to be able to log into a Dark Star server?

RIght now the version that works is 30121205_4

Ok thanks. I think I had to update to SoA. My client hasn't crashed on the DS Classic Server yet. Thanks again.
