Hello everyone I was wondering if there is anyway someone could compile the ds connect server, ds game server and the ds search server from the links for the darkstar wiki page? I'm running windows vista on my computer and I can use visual studio 2013 on here because it's not compatible with vista. I tried using visual studio 2010 and it won't work because the darkstar files were made using a newer version. If you can compile them and e-mail them to rcrawford983@gmail.com I would very much appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your help.

visual studio will not work at all with windows vista. I tried everything including installing all the service packs and it keeps saying this program is not compatible with this version of windows

Time to update your windows version.. Even Microsoft has moved on from Vista.

We do not offer binaries of the source code. You have to build them yourself.

I had Visual Studio Installation Issues on XP too, despite the listed compatibilities ;)
(the machine I'm using as a "server" for Darkstar is running XP, and it's not going to get updated since it's a dedicated gaming rig and I still have a shedload of games that don't run on Win7!!)

After spending a few days of registry fiddling I ended up getting Visual Studio Lite 2013 "installed" and runnable, but there were so many problems getting it to interface properly with the other prereqs that it ended up being easier to just uninstall it and spend an hour or two building up a Win7 Virtual Machine. MS Virtual PC 2007 will quite happily host a Win7 VM on XP. Providing you have hardware virtualization enabled and you don't try to multitask on the host OS at the same time, you shouldn't notice much performance degradation running your Darkstar server inside a VM.
