Deprecated Darkstar fourms

You'll have to excuse me Im a total noob at all this stuff. If Im posting in the wrong forum sorry. Im a total console gamer, played this on ps2 and I love that I can try it again. Im not very PC savvy. I'd like to check out multiple servers. How do I accomplish this? A lot of the lingo on here is foreign to me. I've managed to get the game to run and work on one server so, Im that far along. I see the server addresses, but where and how do I edit those in to shift to them? Sorry again if Im posting in the wrong place, but thank you to anyone that can help me.

I've barely been here a week too but perhaps I can point you in the right direction.

Check out the Configuring Your Client - Xiloader section on the Wiki.

- download and copy xiloader.exe to your game directory
- open a command prompt as admin and run the command in that section replacing server-ip (with the server IP address), username and password (your chosen user/pass)

That should work if I understand it correctly. Might just test it myself now...

Yeah, it works. Ran a command prompt as Admin, navigated to the FFXI installation and ran the command, xiloader --server oldschool.darkstar.info, create character, enter username and password twice, login, enter credentials and... in!

I get the feeling you want to use your PS2, which you can't do. You need a computer capable of running the PC client of the game.

I am capable of running it, Im on the era server right now, it runs and I can play it. Im just not PC savvy. I dont know what to do to change servers and would like to try to do that if someone could help me.

You would need to find the boot command. Edit the profile of the connection you're currently using, and change the ip to what ever you want it to be.
