Wont work with external IP

I have a semi working server set up. When I set the Zone IP for the map server using my internal IP address (192.168.x.x) I am able to log onto that sever from another computer on the same network. When I set the Zone IP for the map server using my external IP address then I cannot connect to it. DSGame-server.exe isn't receiving any information when I try to log on. This is probably an issue with my router, right?
