Nope...I have to at least be able to update POL normally or I can't do anything else. Preparing to re-install windows now. It was about time anyway.

Found the solution a few hours ago.

Go to your FFXI directory look on the NEWEST ONLY files who were modified (approx 10). replace them all with old ones (except the one with the .ver extension) now launch your windower, everything work again ^^

Nb: if your windower crashes or says connection refused, put your windower mode from 1 to 2 (try to find the one who fits)

Tried on three computers and the fix work on x86 x64 US & EUR version and everything works perfectly

I haven't updated my client in a few months.

I'm able to log in still.

This is the list of files to change to older ones :

you can take EUR ou US files watever your version is it works for both
In directiry Final fantasy xi search the most recent modified files and replace them

you must change this 10 files :
patch.rst
FFXI.dll
VTABLE.dat
file.txt
FTABLE.dat
FFXIResource.dll
FFXIMain.dll
patch.sin
patch.txt
patch2.cfg
patch.cfg

DONT CHANGE patch.ver !!!

We need these files hosted somewhere, I can't play and installing all this stuff was a very time consuming pain.

I anticipate many rage quits before people even get to start............

If anyone could PM me the old files for me and a friend it would be greatly appreciated.

You're welcome. It takes me few hours of test to find the problem source but I found the solution.
If I have done something usefull for all then It's enough to make me happy ^^
