PC changes appearance when talking to NPC @_@

Hello guys! I would put this on the bugtracker, but I'm not sure if that is only for your darkstar server or for all private servers too D: (I can submit it there if you like though^^)

Basically, what happens every time I talk to an NPC, use a portal etc my character name changes to some gibberish and my appearance changes from mithra to Hume male.
There's no message in the map-server.log giving me an error or anything so this has me really confused @_@.

I can't tell you exactly when this bug came in - I was unable to update over christmas since I was too busy, but now I am back up-to-date I get this bug D:

I've noticed people here saying that SE is playing around with IDs? I haven't updated my client at all, it's probably about 6months or so old, so I'm not sure if that's causing the issue?
If anyone knows what is going on with my client or is having the same problem, I would really welcome the discussion ^^.

I'm noticing the same thing, but I have to say I'm at a loss for how to fix it. I tried updating the client, but all the files check out as up-to-date. Unless I'm missing something right in front of me, there won't be any way I can fix this. Any ideas, anybody?

In order to update the client without a retail account, follow the client setup guide and skip the optional part. That means you have to copy the pxi patch over your game files again.

When I did it, there was only like 2000 files that were changed and I got the whole thing done in a little under an hour.

I'm experiencing this bug as well. I've run a client update via POL, and it says all files are up to date, and have downloaded and updated the Ashita launcher to try that rather than mXI, which I'd been using before. So far, I can't figure out a solution. My name returns to normal if I zone, and my character will return to normal if I re-equip something or zone, but it's still obnoxious.

UPDATE:
Whoop, got it. Just needed to do a manual patch and repair.
