Magic
1. All elemental magic is seeing extreme resistance even with the skill being capped at that level
2. Spike spells do not function

My BLM is 9, and I have capped Elemental magic to 120.

Fighting Easy Prey Mobs will net me a fight that seems like a Tough or Very Tough in resistances. Most Elemental damage vary s from 1-30 damage with it mostly being low.

It feels like Elemental Skill and Int seem to offer no aid in landing the full magic hit (IMO)

Am currently Level 9, with 17 base Int +8 Int (Int is the only stat that matters when doing damage with magic other than pure MATT and MACC I THINK)

VS a Sheep/Orc/Gob/Rabbit (all EP) so far all magic seems ineffective at elemental skill of 30 other than poison which does 1 damage a tick no matter what

As with my Dark thread, I am only sharing my experiences and am not complaining but was told to make a thread to try and help out with things. So please don't get angry at me >.>;

Figuring out a formula for magic accuracy that works for all levels is alot harder than I thought!

I even did some more tests at 75 vs EM as RDM75 (C+ elemental skill) and those numbers were way off too. I'm still trying to think of a way to use a real formula that fits every parse chart on http://robonosto.blogspot.ca/search/lab ... 20accuracy while maintaining decent accuracy at low levels. I might just have to make a bunch of separate formulas, or have some kind of modifier based on your level (or targets level, or both)

L9 A+ Elemental Skill caps at 30. Assume a L6 target, which means 19 MEva, approx 14 INT (guessed), no MAcc equipment on caster.

23.5% chance of half resist
5.52% chance of quarter resist
1.29% change of eighth resist
0.3% chance of sixteenth

Was curious if the sixteenth resist was going crazy, but apparently not.

Something crossed my mind when I should be sleeping instead.

The two things a mob has to defend itself from nukes right now are INT (1% resistance if Mage's cumulative acc is higher, otherwise 0.5%) and MEva (C skill for level => 83, B skill for 84+). MEva would be approx 0.1% hitrate per point if the Mage has the advantage.

Changing the INT on all those mob families would be annoying.

Changing that MEva to be D or E for L20 and below, or B- for 84+ would be pretty easy...

Disregard that % nonsense. That's why I should have been asleep. Caster INT vs Target INT only affects how heavily INT is weighed. Either difference of 1 Int = 1 MAcc if the player is higher, or difference of 1 INT = 0.5 MAcc penalty if the target is higher. MAcc vs MEva is king, and Darkstar only guesses what MEva is. Also, if you manipulate INT/MND, you'll have nukes hitting harder overall, where as MEva will only affect resist rates.

We know the formulas in use now are, for the most part, accurate under the conditions they were tested in (probably L75 vs whatever). In my dead-horse Fafnir example, reducing MEva from B (323) to B- (313) yields a 10% improvement in Resist rate. At lower levels... well, the difference between a L6 C skill (19) and an E (16) is only 3, but that's still a 3% improvement in resist rates, from 23.5% to 20.5%. Maybe low level mobs need a more drastic solution (ie C skill - 15).

Anyway, my point is that Darkstar guesses MEva, might be guessing it too high, and MEva is generally going to be the easiest stat to control in the formulas.

A lot of formulas in the game are tiered, including formulas with provable results (skill caps by skill rank/level). If you need a tiered formula to accurately express something, then that is likely the most appropriate solution. Remember though, switches are your friend (and generally more appropriate than if/then for situations like this)
