This anchor relates to an issue where by clients cannot see NPCs and or other players, I experienced this and attempted the solution therein (Update your client. Copy the patch into ffxi directory and check files.)
Basically did a complete fresh install and started again, twice as the 2nd and 3rd time didn't work either.

I then happened upon another reason this occurs:
In the end it actually turned out to be hardware related, i almost gave up trying but found that any onboard intel hd graphics card (most 2009-2012 laptops have them) just need a driver upgrade from the intel site. May be worth adding to the troubleshooting page.

Might be worth adding this as a foot as it may save someone going through the living hell of the file check & repair!
