NPC and FoV errors after rolling back to July update

I started playing on DS the same day POL launched the December update. so yesterday it was posted that fresh installs since the December update could roll back to July and have there job abilities. i downloaded unzipped and replaced the files with july patch. Now when i play some of the Field Manuals and NPCs don't work. sarruta and gustaberg manuals show a Carnivorous crawlers page im not on with no selections except a blank space.The fishing guild shows a 0 and a blank selection.
i thought maybe it was an old problem from the July patch but i didn't see anything in the bug discussion.
i wasn't sure if i needed to update POL/FFXI after ... but i figured that wouldn't make sense seeing as how i manually downgraded.
any suggestions?
