Ok, I tried to clone this morning, had a typo in the upstream url, not a disaster but my modified files are all now showing as versioned so git doesn't have any to commit.

Is there a way to unversion a file so it will show as diff?

Sorry if this seems dumb but new to forking etc.

Many thanks
I'm not sure I understand your meaning. Did you already do a commit previously and something went wrong?

And what are you using to handle your local repository? tortosiegit or git bash (command line) are the top 2 recommendations. Githubs own app is pretty terrible.

If you are new to git but familiar with svn, remember git doesn't send to the remote on commit, it requires a push first before the changes show up on githubs website.

You need to be more specific than "fail near the end". Fail how? What marks are you seeing?

Tortosiegit's icon overlay will by defaults show you green check for unchanged files, red x for deleted, blue question marks for new files, and a red exclamation for changes files. A yellow triangular "warning sign" exclamation means conflicted.
