Multiboxing on a local server

Post by Nekovivie » Thu Sep 10, 2015 1:57 pm

Howdy

Trying to multibox several instances on a local sandbox server. When I try to login on a second, I get the following message, and the launcher crashes;

Failed to bind to listening socket.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious. How can I fix this?

Thanks

that message is pretty normal, IIRC - are you using the same profile for both instances of your game?

if the first one logs in fine, have you tried logging them in the opposite order?

Yes, I get that message on my second and third character 100% of the time.
Question, do you get the screen fade out thing right before the crash? Like, when you launch something as administrator in Windows 7, and the screen goes dim except for a single box confirming you want to load that?

Tried alternating the order, using new accounts, always the same thing happens. Each one always logs in fine indepenently but the second will always give the error in the OP before causing a 'ffxi-bootmod has stopped working' error.

I don't get any UAC prompt as I've disabled it for W7 due to the popups being irritating!

Just an update in case it helps anyone else who might encounter the issue one day, after a lot of trial and error, it turned out it was an issue with the loader specifically. Using Windower4 works flawlessly.
