Dyna-Jeuno double spawning (intermittent)

Post by PrBlahBlahtson » Tue Dec 04, 2012 9:25 pm

Can't reliably duplicate this one yet. Will move to the bug tracker if it persists and I can get it hammered down.

1) Enter Dynamis - Jeuno
2) Walk forward, take a left toward the embassies on the lower level.

The statues will either be double-spawned, or they won't. I had double, normal, normal, double, normal, normal in my tests so far. Restarting the server may be necessary, but it's not consistently causing the problem.

Don't you dare link them. The server will drop you like a hot pan, due to something that resembles Bug 293.

Edit:
Adding photographic evidence. I'm not crazy, you're crazy!

Although... I specifically checked if this one was double-popped before I started it...

Edit 2:
I checked this one, too. It is now double spawned, which suggests time is a factor somehow. It doesn't look like there's a repop time in mob_groups...

More than one restart was involved.

The problem may involve the statues near the entrance. I'm honestly not sure.

I couldn't find any logical cause, or make sense out of the Dynamis maps, and deleted this thread last night in annoyance at the wasted time. I still haven't narrowed down a way to reliably duplicate it. The mob_spawn_points, mob_groups, and mob_pools I'm using are all from the trunk, as are the scripts. I'm not sure if it's the second wave being popped by something, or what the cause is.

Hell, it just duplicated while I wasn't watching, since I was writing this post. I walked in, cast Dia on mob 17547530 per the debug message, and started to melee it down. I alt+tab back and forth a few times and there were the statues.

I do not have a logical explanation, or a reliable method to duplicate.

I updated to r2058, logged in, and checked. Single spawn. This time, there was no status message in map_server, but as soon as the statue died, the second wave spawned. dynamis.lua, goblin_statue.lua, and goblin_replica.lua have no specific logic for 17547530 or 17547531 to spawn that wave, and yet there it is.

Edit:
Speculatively, you have a logic flaw somewhere in Goblin_Statue.lua. Kill any statue that doesn't otherwise have a scripted action. The one beside the entrance and the one at the top of the stairs both work fine.

Sorry for getting heated. I knew there was a problem, but I couldn't figure out what was causing it at first. I've done enough troubleshooting to know that a vague "something isn't right" ticket takes too much energy to figure out, which is why I gave up and deleted it. Eventually someone else would have figured it out, in my mind.

Glad it's sorted, though.

There's another problem with dyna-jeuno.
It prevents you from re-entering when you get kicked out (e.g., you die and auto-hp or you die while r0'ing which also auto-hp's you).

Attached an image which shows the weird message it gives you (the trail markings).

You can't actually choose "yes" or "no", it just writes it out.

edit: This message actually keeps changing everytime you zone between examining the trail markings.
