That applies to FFXI, you can just check files on POL anytime you want and it'll update just fine. You just need the Update Patch for ffxi.

Pardon my ignorance, where can I get the UpdatePatch? Is this DSP related (nothing related in the Download section of code.google.com), or SE related?

If that link doesn't work it's right in the setup guide on the Wiki for client. It's the FFXI Patch link.
