Old school server status
Old school server status
Bad news... Sunday afternoon I started noticing I couldn't get on the Internet and my VMs were crashing. The data store was "inaccessible", it looks like it disappeared, so I lost all my VMs and their data.
Old school's data has been backing up to the cloud every night, so this is a good opportunity to test a full restore.
I am going to call Nexenta and see how much it would be to have them look at my storage server, it might be worth it to possibly get all my data back.
It may be a day or two, I will post to this thread when I have more information.

Re: Old school server status
It's my fault. I took this week off to play.

Update -
I'm running a utility to scan the VMFS partition. I'm scanning the new server and old server. I think I may have a better chance at getting the older copies back (right now it is at about 80% and says it found 74k files). I hope at least some of those files are the VMs

Thanks for the update! Here's hoping.
Re: Old school server status
Talking to a guy on VMWare forums, I sent him the first 1.5GB of the disk and he's going to see what he can do. The scan didn't come up with anything

That both sucks and blowswhasf wrote:Talking to a guy on VMWare forums, I sent him the first 1.5GB of the disk and he's going to see what he can do. The scan didn't come up with anything
Re: Old school server status
Have you tried mounting the vmdk on your host os?
VDDK has vmware-mount.exe that can mount .vmdk files. I have no idea how it would handle corrupt disk images, though.

Re: Old school server status
OH NO! Please get it back up and running soon. I miss this server.
