You can just replace the ffxi-boot that the Ashita loader comes with. You can use the regular version and change the ini file or use the modified version I tweaked for use with Ashita here: http://kile.dyndns.info:8765/bak/ffxi-boot_mod_1a.zip (instructions included)

mxi still works good for me guys, and unlike ashita, there's no drop in frame rates. I've noticed though that whenever i take screen shots, the game locks up. I then checked the screeshot folder in mxi and find 2 files, 1 .png and 1 bmp. so i edited init.txt in scripts folder "bind sysrq screenshot png" to "bind f8 screenshot jpg" instead and works fine ever since. Just dont auto load plug-ins that isn't necessary.

Ashita is actively developed (I don't think Windower is anymore, which is what mXI is based on) so you can drop by the ffevo forums and let them know if you're having any issues with it, including your frame-rate problems. With no plug-ins loaded you shouldn't be getting any noticeable performance hit.

i'm going to try the new ashita build posted thank you. Mxi crashes when recast plug-in auto loads. It works fine if recast is disabled in init.txt in scripts folder.

The only thing I notice/wish is that the ffxi-boot or whatever would work with domain name servers such as dyndns. I can get everything to work/connect, EXCEPT for Search Server, unless I put the actual IP of the server in.

Just seems like a strange issue to be having, I was glancing thru the code on the server, and all I can tell is that its client side.. not server side.

Man Im pumped and excited to see that thers an active forum on this, gives me hope.

So heres my issue.
Im totally having the same problem with both MXI and Ash. I tused MXI first, tried in the ffxi folder, and out, same marks technology stopped working whatever, absolutely no idea what to do to fix that. I've tried everything, went as far as to uninstall and reinstall the entire game, followed all the rules to a T. same outcome, got pretty pissed, Jumped on here and found ash, downloaded it, got that missing file error, used the fixed, downloaded from that link earlier, tried running nothing. Perhaps im using ash wrong. idk anymore.
Either way Im losing humor quickly.

Im dying to replaying FFXI, and have a few many people wanting to join me.
So If i can figure this out and it be as painless as possible I'd love that.
can anybody help? quick fixes, anything, im at a loss.

Sidenote: Im joining this retribution server becuase its the only one i found, if theres a better server out there, one thats more populated, lemme know, i'll be happy to jump on and join!

tagban: latest ffxi-boot_mod works with dns names

Tiris12: First, make sure you followed the wiki setup guide: http://kile.dyndns.info:8765/index.php? ... our_Client
Next make sure you are running as admin.
Also, if you are running Ashita make sure you do the step that tells you to update in the setup guide. If you skip that then I can 100% guarantee you it won't work.
Lastly check that all your prereqs are installed. They are listed in that same wiki article.

If you are using an EU client and Ashita, there are some issues currently because of the ffxi-boot build included. It should be rectified in the near future but can be worked around by using the old ffxi-boot in its place.
