lan and wan issues

Post by whitevamp » Mon Jan 21, 2013 7:46 pm

post this here becouse of it being something for darkstar

originaly posted on ashita forums.

i found this prog on the darkstar forums.

im trying to use this prog so that i can host a server on my lan for a few friends, and im haveing no luck getting it so that i can connect to my server.

heres the run down of what im trying to acheave

i have a server on a different comp then the client, and i need to be able to connet to said server, and still allow ppl from out side to connect.

heres my conf file for it.

<setting name="boot_command">--server lanip --hairpin --user user --pass password </setting>

so my questions are.

1. dose the --hairpin option still work?

2. if hairpin still works what am i doing wrong?

First off, if you edare having trouble getting something specific to a darkstar server working, you have a much better chance of getting help in the darkstar project forums. I made that version of ffxi-boot (with help from atom0s) and it does not come standard with Ashita.

If you are using the --hairpin option you should get green text in the console indicating that the option is active. If you are getting that text and it is still not working, please tell me what version of the client you are using (US/EU/JP). If you are not seeing the green text at all, then you are not using ffxi-boot_mod version 2b

heres my follow up.
im useing US

and yea im seeing the green text saying Hairpinning hack applied!

and thx for the quick reply.

Just to make sure, you did actually replace "lanip" with the IP address of the server on your LAN, "user" with your account name, and "password" with your account password, right?

I tested this on the US version of the game. It may not work if your client version is outdated. I hope to get that fixed at some point, but it probably won't happen until it breaks on a newer version due to other projects I am working on.

We currently require the latest version of the client (post December 12th). The method used for the hairpinning hack isn't flexible enough yet to handle other client versions, and you will have to update anyway or else your client will crash when approaching other players on the server.

I will look into possible issues but so far you are the first person to have problems with it.

followup
ok i have the dsp ports forward tcp: 54001, 54002, 54230, 54231 udp:54230
still no go.
for a windower type setup.
one thing i forgot to metion is that inorder to get Ashita_Darkstar to even run is i had to use this file Ashita Core.dll from Ashita most recent release, as i could not find anything else to make it work.
heres what it says with out that dll file
Ashita failed to inject into playonline

here's the cli output.

If you did not have AshitaCore.dll you did not follow the directions for installing Ashita on either the wiki or the post on the forums. Go read one or both of those and come back if it still doesn't work.

same issue as before.
so this is what i have done.
1. down load Ashita_Darkstar
2. read the wiki
3. clicked on the update , then clicked on update all files.
4. configured a new xml script for my server.
5 tried to connect and nothing. ( just sits at downloading data, after selecting a char. )

also i have looked into the database, account sessions and i can see that i am still logged in after trying to connect with ashita.
