An idea for a new item!

Post by deltasrage » Mon Feb 25, 2013 6:18 pm

Hey Ive been using the server for about 5 days now and love it. But I had an idea with FoV! I want to create a usable item that brings up FoV page for the current zone, basiclly making FoV books portable! I can't find where the book in a specific zone calls the FoV script. Other wise i believe the item creation tutorial would be enough. Just need to where to look so I can see how FoV books call the correct zones ids. Any help or a point in the right direction would be appreciated :)

"Hmm, scripts, zones... east... yeah, ronfaure will do. npcs.... Field_Manual.lua. Yep, looks like that's where to start."

Please also keep in mind that no such item exists in retail, so while you're free to distribute the patch to other players, it probably won't make it into the trunk. There's also no way to make a "new" item, and you'd have to repurpose an existing one instead of its intended purpose. More, the client knows what's usable, so it would have to be an item that's already usable.

ahh ok i thought for osme reason that the field manuals worked by finding the zone you were in then drawing up the ids from that data, either way its doable just means ill have to find the zone id first then call that areas field manual. Helps alot TY. Also i figured it wouldnt be added do to the projects goals, i only thought of it as a fun adition to my server. It basiclly me and a couple friends that lan when we have free time to get together. Now the other question that comes up is being how items are reusable can the uses be changed to infinite uses and 0 cooldown? if not it would kinda break the true portablility of it. TY again!!

Well it's more of how are you gonig to force the FoV menu to show up without clicking on the FoV manual npc? you would just need to take something useless like a food no one uses and make it send the FoV menu.
