Can't connect to game

I'm currently on r2909.

First problem I encountered was exactly after updating to r2909. I was able to log on and I was inside my mog house. I noticed that my char had hume gear on (appearance) instead of what I had on last time I was playing. So I decided to read forums and/or check files/update client. Second problem was that the command /shutdown wasn't working. Anyhow, I shutdown the game and proceeded to update my client.

After updating client, I tried connecting again. On the character selection screen I was still appeared with hume gear. After selecting my character, I get a message that there was no response on the server. My dsgame log shows:

Regarding the duplicate entry message, I do not have two chars with the same charid in the chars table.

Note: While writing this post, I was checking FFXI files again, but there was nothing to fix or update.

"DB error - Duplicate entry '21830' for key 'PRIMARY'"

usually means the character with id 21830 already exists in the game world - ie: your character still hasn't timed out yet

(it is referring to accounts_sessions table, which should be empty if nobody is logged in)

You can safely delete entries in the account_sessions table for characters that are not logged in. That is usually how you fix this issue. The @resetplayer GM command also does this, I believe.

Guys, thanks for your quick response. I wasn't able to access forums until today.

I verified my accounts_sessions and it was empty. I tried to log in, selected character (still looks like a hume with basic hume gear), and after waiting in the Downloading data screen I received the following message:

Error code: FFXI-3001
No response from the Final Fantasy XI server.
Connection timed out.
Press Ok to shut down.

My logs were basically the same as the ones in the OP, except there was no "duplicate key" message in the connection log.

Is there any information I can provide to help myself fix this?

Thanks, I appreciate your time, and I know everyone is extremely busy to be dealing with every situation like this. Most of the time the problem is the user, I'm just having trouble reaching a solution.

it's possible your client didn't update properly, as well

i'd delete a random small .DAT and re do file check

Interestingly enough, I think I may have hit this bug while testing something completely unrelated. The character in question simply could not log in, even if account_sessions was empty.

I thought the problem was my own fault, since I was working on something that executes when a player logs in, so I didn't do much experimenting with it. It was fixed after I logged in from a second computer and used @resetplayer from a completely separate account. I'm not sure if a second computer was necessary, or a separate account, as I wasn't being patient about it and didn't want to wait for decreasezonecounter to run.

Edit:
Triggered this again via breakpoints that basically timed out the login before it was even finished. The character ends up in Zone 0 with Prevzone 0 at 192,0,0. It can't seem to resolve things from there. Again, @resetplayer straightens it out, or manually editing the chars table while the player isn't logging in to put them somewhere valid.

I apologize for not answering before. I made a new server, created a new player, but when trying to log in I get the same errors as in the OP. I tried the "logging in and out cleanly until it works" trick but no success.

When I first had this issue, I had the client on win7 on an iMac through Bootcamp and my servers were installed in Ubuntu through vbox.

Last week I tried again, reinstalling everything but on a different setup. Client on win7 on a MacBook Pro through Bootcamp and server on Raspbian in a raspberry pi.

Same problem occurred: I can create accounts and characters but I cannot log in.

Today I decided to try again, simply by installing the sever where I installed the client: win7 macbook. This worked, I was able to login into the game.

Is it save to assume the problem is related to building the server in Linux? I hope this information becomes valuable, as I'm more inclined to running the server on Linux and seperate to where I installed my client.

UPDATE: I logged out my char (\shutdown). Started the servers again, logged in, selected character and again stuck at the same error when "downloading data".

I'm able to "log into game" now. However, tried char by char, one by one, and no matter what zone I was in, I ended up in Residential Area, with zone and positions values cleared in the database.

What's going on with me? :(
