Hey Guys. Just Finished building my DSP FFXI Dedicated Server Boxes. I decided to build them during my spare time after work. Their temporarily mounted in my 12U Network Test Rack till I finish running final tests on them. Afterwards ill mount them in my Dell 42U Rack.

Re: Dedicated Server Box
Neat, server porn.
Test Server: Hanekawa | Fantasy World: Naito
An occasionally updated list of what works
Bugs reports go here. | Project chat here.
Things I've found, but don't plan to work on.

Nice, but the search server has to be running on the same system as the game/world server (afaik), it just uses a different port...
So you have rack mount servers but a cheap 4 port netgear switch?? Where's the Cisco 7500??

Very nice stuff. I handn't updated for a long time and finally saw the desert world client in the src folders. What is it?project2501 wrote:{4U Chassis}(C) Game-Server / [Eventually Desert World Client ]
Re: Dedicated Server Box
It's for extracting the 3D terrain data from the .dat files. Eventually someone will have to do that so we can have proper monster movement

Thanks Whasf! That would explain some problems.. Ill Fix it right away.whasf wrote:Nice, but the search server has to be running on the same system as the game/world server (afaik), it just uses a different port..
Yeah the Netgear switch is just for my Small Network Test Rack. Most builds I do get tested there before I feel confident enough for them to be committed to the bigger 42U Dell Rack Enclosure. No Cisco 7500 . The Best I got at the moment is a Cisco 1921. Its Located in the bigger Rack Enclosure along with some other Rack Mount Servers for various things.whasf wrote: So you have rack mount servers but a cheap 4 port netgear switch?? Do you think with this Setup ill be able to support at-least 6 Clients over a LAN? .

Re: Dedicated Server Box
I wanted to check out the desert world client, but I'm getting errors when running it. I can see the first item fine but when I hit enter and it starts zipping through all of the files, it says:whasf wrote:It's for extracting the 3D terrain data from the .dat files. Debug error!
File: c:\dsp\win32\thedesertworld_client\tdwmap.cpp
Line: 630
Run-Time Check Failure #2 - Stack around the variable 'opname' was corrupted
Not that I know what I'm doing with the tool anyway.
