Hi all.
I was wondering if you could give me some advice.
I am looking to Host a FFXI private server for a few hundred people. Could you please tell me what VPS sever specs is best? As in Ram/Space/Bandwidth

Windows 7 or 2008r2, 4GB memory, 100GB hdd, dual processors
or you can go cheaper (but harder to maintain) with a Linux host using the same system specs.

That's cool. I'm hosting a 4GB RAM - 200GB Diskspace with 2 CPU Cores and Unlimited Bandwidth

It's only harder to maintain if you aren't used to it (or when you windows-only guys do stuff that breaks my hackish build system).

I'd say it's quite a bit cheaper to buy a quad core desktop off craigslist and install on that.

Cheaper sure, but you can't get nearly the bandwidth on a home internet connection. On a related note, I've had very good service from RamNode recently...awesome service if you need quick I/O and decent bandwidth but not a lot of storage space. Would not recommend for hosting large files that will be downloaded by hundreds of people, but as a general base for a server its a good deal.
