Game will not launch

Hello. I've followed all the steps for setting up XI, but when I log into ffxi boot it says "successfully logged in" but then goes back to the menu to choose 1 login or 2 create new account. It keeps repeating this cycle without launching the game. I would really appreciate it if anyone has any ideas I could try because I'm out of them. By the way, I installed it on a system with Windows XP 64-bit; could that be the problem? Thank you for any info.

Make sure your gfx card supports Hardware TnL. If it is integrated gfx and not a dedicated card, that is usually an issue.

Have you tried using a different booter, like the latest Ashita (there is even a version in this forum which fixes character creation)? I am using Vista x64, and it runs fine. But I have used Ashita since day 1.

If you are running on XP you might also have better luck replacing the pol.exe in the Ashita package with the one in the vc10 folder.

Run as administrator. I had the same problem and it fixed it.
