FFXI Mon

I'm wanting to look at some of the packets being sent from a retail server and have been trying to use FFXI Mon v2.6. I'm getting a few errors, I know the program is old, but I was hoping it was still a viable tool. I'm getting an error similar to this "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way." I assumed it was a msvcrt problem and have tried everything I can think of to remedy it but I'm not getting anywhere. Anyone still using this tool, does it still work? Can anyone suggest a fix for this or a similar tool to use in lieu of it. I'm currently running Win 7 x64.
