As you may have noticed, the boot loader isn't actually part of the project. Most of the devs haven't worked with it and have no practical experience with it. While it is useful to collect information like this for future work on a potential boot loader as part of the project, it isn't something we can afford to focus on at this stage of the game.

Just crossed my mind, and thought I'd check. I have no idea if this would matter, but hey, why not.

I figured that was the case.

Unfortunately, my processor is a single core so dual-core optimization would have no effect.

Thank you all for the replies and support.
It seems like there's simply nothing I can do short of changing hardware or having an entirely new launcher coded, which seems like a huge waste of time and resources to fix a problem a couple people with outdated hardware are having.
As I said previously, the game runs(albeit poorly after 10 minutes) so the option to suck it up and deal with it is always there.
I hope to see this project reach full retail functionality one day. Keep up the good work.

after 10 min i get from 7% cpu load on a core to 80-90%, with so many cores i didn't noticed that before i checked.

my specs are:
OS: Windows 7 64bit
CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1055t 2.8ghz (6 cores)
GPU: AMD HD5870
Memory: 4gb

checked with my second pc with intel cpu, even there i find this issue.

OS: Windows Vista 32bit
CPU: Intel core2 duo P8600 2.4ghz (2 cores)
GPU: AMD HD3470
Memory: 3gb

If I could duplicate this, I'd be interested in looking into it...but as it stands I wouldn't even know where to start.
^bluekirby0 from a previous thread about this

I never noticed it either, until I started dual boxing. Game will run fine on both windows @29.3fps, until 5-15 minutes (sometimes longer, but very rare). Then suddenly the front window will start stuttering from 26-29fps, with the window in the background falling to 15-20~fps, but will progressively get worse and fall to 1-4fps (usually after a few hours). I didn't realize until now that each mxi.exe was jumping from 5~% cpu usage, to taking up 50-55% each. I've already tested and it does happen with only one client open, but because cpu usage only rises to 60%, the game doesn't drop in performance. If I open up another mxi to dual box after the first client has already jumped in cpu usage, the new one will be fine for the first 5-15min until the same thing happens. Also, I can sort of force it to be extremely noticeable by opening even more ffxi-boot.exe/mxi.exe, logging in, disconnecting and leaving the dos window in the taskbar. It will cause my entire system to lock up pretty bad until I close an extra one.

Specs:
OS: Windows 7 64bit
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.8ghz
GPU: ATI5670
Memory: 4GB

My PC is fairly new, and the game does seem to lag it out after so long, like you've stated here. Actually, my girlfriend's PC has an Intel i5 and this was happening on her's last night. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it mXI itself that is buggy? I wouldn't blame the developers of the ffxi private server, because I think it has very little to do with them. mXI was developed by an entirely different group of people and from what I understand, do not plan to further it anymore than it already is. I thought it'd be a neat idea if someone could make a more stable clone of it :)

The clients will receive some lovin' eventually, we just don't have the time and it's (frankly) not a big enough problem right now compared to other things..

I know that's not what you want to hear since it affects you, but I dont have a better answer right now.

sorry!

I use mxi on a
core-duo e5400 @2.70ghz
and my cpu load after 10+ mins is only 15 - 30% and that is with the internet, server and game running on same machine; with four people connected.

If you have problem with mxi, why use it? I mean, ffxiboot works fine.

But at that 10 minute mark something happens and the process just goes bonkers.

Back to the very first post, again.

Your suggestions have been some of the worst and most commonly useless solutions I've ever seen in a troubleshoot thread, all combined to be such completely worthless (and expensive) advice. Reading comprehension was taught to you in school, correct? God damn.
